"There is an old Finnish tradition when it comes to newborns — the baby is not to be named until the baptism ceremony, when he or she is presented to the family with the chosen name.

"A few years ago, in 2006, a new project from Tarja was born and, following the same tradition, the time has come to baptize it, to make the presentations to the family and to give it a name — HARUS.

"'Harus' is a rather peculiar, uncommon Finnish word that describes the four tensors that keep a tent together or the tensor that keeps the mast from falling in a sailing boat. Both of the meanings apply to this musicians' lineup: four members, four equals, four different backgrounds to tie together exquisite classical music developed strongly and in a very stable way, with a taste of experimental, modern feel.

"The ever-changing waters HARUS sails on promise a unique feeling and combination for each program."

There will be a live CD. live CD/DVD and CD/Blu ray

Tarja has declared: "In 2006 we did our first concert together. We had such a joy and fun that we decided to keep on performing as a group. The name
came many years after when we believed it is time to make it official. What
is special in HARUS is that every concert represents a magic moment. We have the freedom to be inspired by our own emotions. We hope to be able to
offer you that spirit with this CD/DVD."

The international release date for the live CD is November 25. The audio/video bundles (CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray) will hit stores one week later (December 2).

So any thoughts on this?

Have to say, I've watched a few of the videos and I don't like Tarja's vocals at all. But then that's nothing new, I've never enjoyed her live vocals, except for when I actually saw her live but I'm not sure if that was just because I was excited or if she was actually better!

- Or just another thought, maybe it's that she's better at singing her own solo stuff.

I have to say her vocals with Harus are awful! They are all over the place and out of tune. Tarja needs to take a break and nurse her voice if I'm honest.

Hmmm, as much as I'm not impressed with her vocals at all recently, I did like this one you posted However, looking at the comments makes me nauseous....

I've heard this album recently and hated it. It's soo bloody slow and lacks any magic nor good sound, songs are written erratically and just go on and on without any kind of variation, everything is weak, simple piano based with occasional acoustic guitar and some other instruments I don't know... Let me not comment on Tarja's vocals, that are only decent on You would have loved this and Walking in the air... Sad. I hope that at least her new solo album will be better, since Never Enough sounds promising instrumentally.

I just read a hilariously bad review of the album in Metal Hammer... They said it was worse than "being fried in burning oil as a gang of sadistic torturers take turns in attaching electrodes to your genitalia..." and it went on quite a bit They said Tarja's voice was like an "ear-syringing screech" and that the songs sound "bland and repetitive, not to mention dull and offensively smug."

I love Tarja, but I have to agree, this album is pretty awful! Get back to rock/metal please...

Haha, I've seen it! But despite the rather bad choice of wording, I had to agree with every bit of it... There's nothing to be hooked into on it, really.

It was probably the lack of English songs, but I just couldn't get into the album. Her voice was also rather weak (which has already been mentioned.)

Well, she has so many people that will buy into anything at all she does, I guess she could as well record herself farting and make money on it.

I spat my water out when I read this. Brilliant.

I finally found the time to listen to the album and I have to say it is incredibly... boring. I usually enjoy non-english songs, especially Finnish since it's one of my favorite languages but those songs are far from being enjoyable. The best song on the album for me is You Would Have Loved This by far. And why the hell do we get another version of Walking In The Air?
I really love Tarja but this record is just a total failure. Metal/Rock definately suits her much better.

^ Not so much it suits her better, as she just can't do classical. She has no composing/songwriting talents in this genre.

I almost peed my pants when I read this!

I have to agree though, she's pretty much got certain groups of fans wrapped around her finger. It's kind of funny to read Youtube comments, but pretty disturbing sometimes.
I also agree that her voice, well, sucked. She should take some time off and take care of her voice, it just did not sound good at all!

Can't believe how many people voted for her as 'most intelligent'. Seriously.

To be honest, only Simone I would say to be dumber than her...

I usually really like Tarja her vocals, but on Harus she just really did something wrong. Too forced and weak. But then always when she sings opera, she sounds a bit like she's trying to much to sound different then how she sounds on the metal/rock songs. Especially if they are recording it live. But on Harus it's also the music that just is not right. I got it for free (yay for my roommate who works at musicmagazine ) but otherwise I would think twice about buying it. Maybe in the sale to complete my collection.

Anyway I have better hopes for her new live album ^^.
