Delinquent Records, USA had great success with our various artist collections which were theme or genre-specific, such as "The Pink and The Black: a Goth and Glam Collection", "Industrial Baby!", and "More Black Than Black: a traditional goth collection" - this was in 1997-1999. Each of these three releases were 2 CD sets, usually featuring an up'n'coming Alternative Female Model, and a talented graphic artist undiscovered. Unlike other rip off compilations, while I did charge for a track, I gave each band 30 double disks for $250US and the bands could sell them for $10 or $15 and recoup or generate more income. I sent copies to magazines worldwide for reviews benefiting all the bands. I also asked my usual distributors for favorite tracks, then I would either sign the band or distribute their current self-created CDs, listing them as a Delinquent Distributed Band. "The Pink and The Black" was so popular, we held 4 CD release parties in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Tampa, FL - each show featuring 3-5 bands from the collection. Those disks also gained several bands a place on "Shower of Blood" soundtrack. I would like to do this for an all female / femme-fronted bands collection... as a part of my "Resurrection Series" of Various Artists releases, slowly appearing on the website. I thought perhaps $100US with 10cds plus publicity and promotion might interest some of the Female Rockers here and I must say, I love the name "Muses of Metal" and I could give the site credit on the inside, possibly use an alt female model for the cover, and in general, network together to benefit all.
